Understand the recommendation
The initial minimum recommendation includes 10 hours of risk education and 12 hours of early intervention. The early-intervention component takes place over at least four weeks, with no more than three hours per day. Follow any additional recommendations and applicable continuing-care activities.
The classification is determined by an evaluator
Risk assignments consider the evaluation and required driving and arrest information. The applicable criteria include offense history, chemical-test information, and substance-use findings. Do not use this page to diagnose yourself or replace a qualified evaluation.
Questions for your provider
Prepare a written list before enrollment so the schedule and expected documents are clear.
- Ask which portion of the schedule is education and which portion is intervention.
- Plan for the multi-week intervention schedule rather than expecting a one-day program.
- Confirm any follow-up activities and the documents supplied after completion.
Completion and next steps
Ask who receives the final documents and how to confirm they were received. Completing recommended services is distinct from a court decision or restoration of driving privileges. Confirm any remaining document requirements and deadlines directly with the court or licensing agency handling your matter.
